👥 Who can enter a Michelin EWXC race?
Anyone!
Whether you’re racing for the first time or you’re an experienced competitor, there’s a class for you. The Michelin EWXC is designed for riders of all ages and skill levels.
📝 Do I need a race licence?
No!
One of the biggest changes for 2026 is that no race licence is required to compete in the Michelin EWXC Series.
Simply enter online through Race Control, bring your bike and riding gear, and you’re ready to race!
🏍️ Do I need to belong to a club?
No.
Club memberships are no longer required to race in the Michelin EWXC Series.
🌟 I’ve never raced before. Can I still enter?
Absolutely!
Many riders compete in their very first race with us. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, making the Michelin EWXC the perfect place to start your racing journey.
If you’re unsure which class to enter, simply contact us—we’re always happy to help.
⏱️ How long is the race?
Race duration varies depending on your class.
- Race 1 riders have approximately 4 hours from the start of the first rider.
- Race 2 riders have approximately 3½ hours from the time the last rider starts.
- Junior classes have shorter race times appropriate for their age groups.
Your final lap must be completed before the cut-off time to count.
🛠️ What bike can I ride?
Any suitable 2 wheels off-road motorcycle may be entered, provided it is:
- Mechanically sound
- Safe to ride
- Suitable for off-road competition
Both 2-stroke and 4-stroke motorcycles are welcome.
🦺 Is protective riding gear compulsory?
Yes.
For your safety, riders must wear:
✅ Approved helmet
✅ Goggles
✅ Gloves
✅ Enduro or Motocross boots
✅ Long-sleeved riding gear
✅ Enduro/Off-road/MX pants
✅ Body armour/chest protector/Elbow & Knee Pads (strongly recommended)
Riders without the required safety gear will not be permitted to start.
💻 How do I enter?
Entries are completed online through Race Control.
Once payment has been received, your entry will be confirmed.
📅 Can I enter on race day?
Yes.
However where possible, we recommend entering online before the event.
Online entries make documentation much quicker and help us prepare for the day.
🏁 What happens when I arrive?
When you arrive at the venue you’ll need to:
✅ Complete Registration (Collect envelope)
✅ Check/collect your race / timing tag (Sign on sheets)
✅ Collect your JustTrac unit
Please arrive early to avoid unnecessary delays.
🔢 Do I need a race number on my bike?
Yes.
Every rider must display a clearly visible race number on their motorcycle.
Your bike number must match the rider number used on your online Race Control entry.
No number = No Start.
📡 Do I need a Race Control Timing Tag?
Yes.
Every rider must have a Race Control Timing Tag.
- Cost: R100
- You only buy it once
- It can be used for all our Michelin EWXC races
- There is no need to purchase a new tag for every race
If you don’t already have one, you can purchase your timing tag during documentation.
🏆 What Classes are Available?
The Michelin EWXC caters for riders of all ages and skill levels, from first-time competitors through to South Africa’s top professional riders.
The event is split into two races, allowing riders to compete against others of similar ability.
🏁 Race 1 – Pro Classes
🥇 Pro Elite
Sponsored and highly advanced riders on any size enduro motorcycle.
Typically Gold Roof and upper Silver Roof level riders.
🥈 Pro B
Advanced riders on any size enduro motorcycle.
Typically Silver Roof and upper Bronze Roof level riders.
👑 Senior Pro
Sponsored and advanced riders turning 36 years or older during the race year.
Approximately 75% of the full race distance.
💪 Masters
Sponsored and advanced riders turning 46 years or older during the race year.
Approximately 50% of the full race distance.
⭐ Grand Masters (NEW for 2026)
Sponsored and advanced riders turning 56 years or older during the race year.
Approximately 50% of the full race distance.
🎓 High School
Advanced riders aged 13 to 18 years on any size motorcycle (including 300cc and 150cc).
Approximately 75% of the full race distance.
Terms and Conditions apply regarding rider age and motorcycle eligibility.
🏁 Race 2 – Other Classes
🥈 Silver A
For stronger intermediate riders capable of completing Bronze Roof level terrain.
Approximately 75% of the race distance.
🥉 Silver B
For intermediate riders.
Approximately 75% of the race distance.
🤝 Club
Perfect for recreational riders with approximately 1–2 years of riding experience who simply want to enjoy the day.
Approximately 50% of the race distance.
🚸 Pro Mini
Advanced young riders aged 12 to 15 years riding motorcycles up to:
- 85cc Two-Stroke
- 150cc Four-Stroke
Riders complete the full course at approximately 50% race distance.
👩 Ladies
For female riders with the technical ability to complete the full Race 2 loop.
🌱 Discovery Class
New for 2025, the Discovery Class is perfect for riders who would like to experience a Michelin EWXC event without committing to the full race.
This class completes one lap of the Green (Race 2) route.
Suitable for:
- Male and female riders
- All ages
- Enduro motorcycles from 85cc big wheel up to 300cc
It’s the ideal class if you’re new to enduro racing and want to experience the excitement of an EWXC event in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

⌚ How does timing work?
Professional electronic Race Control timing records every lap and your finishing position. This is live and can be checked while the race is on.
Official results are published after each event.
🗺️ Do I need a GPS?
No.
We do recommend that you ride with a GPS, this is good training, But the Michelin EWXC course is fully marked with:
- Direction arrows
- Danger boards
- Route markers
- Course tape where required
Simply follow the course markings.
🌧️ What happens if it rains?
The event goes ahead in almost all weather conditions.
After all…
This is Enduro!
Sometimes the mud just makes the stories even better!
🔧 What happens if my bike breaks down?
If your motorcycle cannot continue safely:
- Move it off the course, just enough for riders to pass, but do not stay too far.
- Ensure you’re in a safe location
- Wait for assistance if required
Always consider the safety of other riders.
👨👩👧 Can family and friends come and watch?
Absolutely!
Spectators are always welcome and many venues offer excellent viewing points, food stalls and a great atmosphere throughout the day.

A short Riders Briefing will be held before the start of both Race 1 and Race 2.
Please note:
The detailed Riders Briefing is sent via Email and WhatsApp Voice Note before the event.
Attendance at the on-site briefing is compulsory.

Riders leave in short intervals (approximately six riders at a time).

Race 2 riders line up according to their seeded starting order.

Race 2 starts.
Race 2 uses the same start and finish area as Race 1, with some route variations where applicable.

Approximately 13:00
Riders have 4 hours from the start of the first rider.
Any lap completed after the official cut-off time will not count.
Race 2
Approximately 13:00
Riders have approximately 3½ hours from the time the last rider starts.
Any lap completed after the official cut-off time will not count.
🏅 Prize Giving
Prize Giving will take place as soon as practical once results have been verified.
Please note that times may vary depending on the completion of racing.
🍔 Is food available?
Yes.
Food and refreshments are usually available throughout the day.
Many venues also offer camping or nearby accommodation.
Where can I find results?
Official results are on the Race Control website. The championship standings will be published on our website.
